About Dmitry
Bass-baritone Dmitry Cheblykov began singing at an early age and pursued his musical studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory where he received his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance (2017). During his years studying, he was awarded 1st prize at the Alexey Ivanov International Vocal Competition (2015) and 2nd prize at the Nadezhda Obukhova Russian National Competition (2016). In 2017 he became a member of the Young Artist Programme of the Bolshoi Theatre. In 2021 he was awarded 1st prize at the Elena Obraztsova International Competition of Young Singers, and 3rd prize at Operalia.
Dmitry has had the opportunity to perform and work with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Dmitry Jurowski, Dmitry Korchak, Nikolas Nägele, and Jan Latham-Koenig among many others. In concert, he has performed the works of Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Strauss, and Rossini, and shows a particular affinity with French, German and Italian Art Songs.
Recent career highlights for Dmitry include Il barbiere di Siviglia, Lebedev (The Idiot) at the Bolshoi Theatre, along with a return to the role of Lightman The Story of Kai and Gerda. In June 2022 Dmitry debuted as Escamillo (Carmen) at Den Norske Opera. Notable debuts for Dmitry include the role of Rogozhin in (The Idiot) at the Theater an der Wien with the direction of Vasily Barkhaov, and a new production of War and Peace by Dmitry Tchernyakov at the Bayerische Staatsoper, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski.
The 2023/24 season for Dmitry will involve War and Peace at the Bolshoi Theatre, following debuts at Glyndebourne Festival for Carmen, Wigmore Hall and Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège for his role debut in Kát'a Kabanová.
