About Lidiya

Music Director of the Chicago Opera Theater, Lidiya is a fiercely-committed advocate for Slavic masterpieces, operatic rarities, and contemporary works. She has conducted more than 40 world premieres, including 17 operas.

Lidiya made her European debut this February conducting Eugene Onegin at Staatsoper Hamburg. She followed this with her critically-acclaimed London debut where she led the English National Opera for Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, praised by iNews for “drawing out a wonderful, opulent warmth.”

In the 2023/24 season Lidiya conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, and Santa Fe Opera.

At Chicago Opera Theater, she leads a new Francesca Zambello production of The Nose in the company’s 50th anniversary season.
