il Pomo d’Oro – Theodora
During the challenging third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were proud to deliver an incredible five-city tour in Europe of Handel’s dramatic oratorio Theodora. With il pomo d’oro orchestra, the newly formed il pomo d’oro Choir, conductor Maxim Emelyanchev, and a sensational cast of Joyce DiDonato, Lisette Oropesa, Michael Spyres, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Dijan and John Chest.

Joyce DiDonato – EDEN
Joyce DiDonato launched EDEN in March 2022 with 17 concerts across Europe and North America. With DiDonato’s long-time partners il pomo d’oro and Maxim Emelyanychev, EDEN spans four centuries of music including a new commission from Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman.

Galilee Chamber Orchestra
Askonas Holt made its first tour collaboration with the Galilee Chamber Orchestra. Led by Saleem Abboud Ashkar, the Galilee Chamber Orchestra is the first professional orchestra in Israel comprised of both Jewish and Palestinian members. The ensemble is a programme of Polyphony Education, an Israeli non-profit whose work aims to bridge the divide between Arab and Jewish communities in Israel through classical music education, performance, and cultural dialogue.

Rufus Wainwright – Mother
August 2021 saw Askonas Holt’s first collaboration with the incomparable and genre-defying artist Rufus Wainwright. The tour featured Rufus and sister Martha alongside Laurence Bekk-Day performing a programme titled ‘Mother’, which derives its inspiration from different perceptions of mothers and motherhood, in addition to commemorating their own mother, Canadian folk singer Kate McGarrigle.

Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra
The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra was formed in March 2022 to defend Ukraine’s cultural legacy as the country fights for its freedom. Under conductor Kerri-Lynn Wilson, the musicians from Ukrainian and European orchestras toured Europe and the US in summer 2022, performing to standing ovations in many of the 13 concerts that took place across seven countries in three weeks.

Berliner Philharmoniker & Kirill Petrenko
Despite complications presented by the pandemic, Askonas Holt was proud to continue its long touring relationship with the Berliner Philharmoniker with a short tour to Denmark and Sweden in late 2021.
