In 1991, Martin Campbell-White, CEO of Harold Holt (later to become Askonas Holt) organised one of the most exciting events in the history of the company - the first official Sumo wrestling tournament to be staged outside of Japan in the 1,500-year history of the sport.

NYO2Dominican RepublicOver the course of five days, the orchestra performed two concerts on 17th July at Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito in Santo Domingo and on 18th July at the Gran Teatro del Cibao in Santiago, alongside relaxed evening performances for local residents in San Pedro de Macorís. The orchestra were joined by conductor Joseph Young and violinist Jennifer Koh for an exciting programme including Bernstein’s On the Town, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto and Prokofiev’s Suite from Romeo & Juliet.
